finding beauty within the middle minutes
a little bit about me
I’m Kendra— I am a wife, mother, friend, missionary, writer, and painter.
We live in the PNW where both rain suits and sandals are worn within the same week, sometimes even the same day!
My husband and I are about to celebrate 10 years or marriage and we have two small children!
Within the margins of raising my babies, I love serving and leading my local MomCo group, walking downtown to the farmers market, connecting with new moms, writing with a perfectly sharpened pencil, and swirling watercolor across paper alongside my kids.
why ordinary days
Since becoming a mother I have spent a lot of time thinking about the word ORDINARY.
Life is filled with a lot of ordinary moments, especially those first few days and years with little ones. Simple, common days with no distinctive features but filled with patters of routine.
And here’s what I’ve wondered::
Does God live within the ordinary days?
I believe God’s glory, His beauty, and His joy, isn’t just for “spiritual” times, places, or events, but it’s everywhere. I believe he’s in every corner of our lives. And if we (I’m preaching to myself here too) slow down enough to notice, we’ll see Him, within the middle minutes and margins of our ordinary days.
God’s glory is a sunrise on the way to work.
The way the light glimmers in the breakfast nook.
Chubby toddler fingers rolling out pizza dough.
Baby giggles and tickles.
An encouraging text from a friend, at the perfect moment.
And so much more.
words and watercolors
And to the thing that brings you here!
I have always loved to create and motherhood has given me both the opportunity and the bravery to lean into those seeds tucked deep within.
WATERCOLORS: I started painting with watercolors when I was sent home from my kindergarten classroom during covid in march 2020. I have continued to paint, many days with babies strapped to my chest or during their afternoon naps. I love the way watercolors swirl across paper, they make me let go and enjoy the process. I currently sell my work downtown at Page and Pine, in the forms of both bookmarks and postcards. You can check here periodically for available work or reach out if you’re interested.
WORDS: I have always loved words (ask my mom) but felt called to seriously put pencil to paper when my daughter was almost one years old. I started my blog very soon after that, where I’ve continued to make note of beauty and glory spotted in my life. I am continuing to take writing workshop because I love to learn and have enjoyed making fellow writer friends in my Exhale group. I have been published on the MomCo blog, on Coffee and Crumbs’s social media, and in Every Little Seed’s latest magazine!
My hope is to meld these two creatives to provide a speck of encouragement throughout your day. That either email (my blog) or mail (purchased art), that it would come at the perfect timing. Mostly, my prayer is that you would see a glimpse of glory in the midst of your ordinary day.

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims the work of his hands.
